Prom!
Prom was on Saturday. ^_^ It was raining pretty heavily, so the drive was pretty slow, but at least I made it there safely. Laura's mom waved me into the garage so Laura's dress wouldn't get wet when she got into the car. Laura opened the door to let me into the house...... and she was sooooo gorgeous! :D I changed in her bathroom, and her mom took pictures of us with their digital camera. Some of Laura's neighbors had also come over to see her dress.
After pictures, we headed over to Vino's (a nice Italian restaurant) for dinner with Ryan and Sammy. As always, they were both insane. The food was great though.
We got to the dance around 7:00 p.m. and got in line for Grand March. For those of you who don't know what Grand March is (like I didn't), the couples slowly walk one by one through a lit arch and smile as their pictures are taken. Lots of parents come out to see it. It was fun, and as always, Laura looked beautiful, and I looked like a complete dork. ^^;; Afterwards, we headed down to the actual dance and talked with some of her friends for a while.
When they started playing some slower songs, Laura and I made sure to take advantage of the situation. They didn't play ALL that many slow songs. While we were dancing, some guy with a camera and REALLY BRIGHT LIGHT started filming us. :D Lots of air time, baby! When the slow songs stopped, we would just hang out and talk with her friends. When they'd come back on, we'd dance again. :) Laura even got me to swing dance! It was a lot of fun. ^___^
The post prom party was at the bowling alley. It lasted from midnight to 3:00 a.m. They had free bowling, free drinks and pizza, karaoke, a pretty decent magician, and prizes. Of course, the best part was just hanging out with Laura. :D We were both really tired by this point, so we pretty much just sat down together for most of the party.
After they gave out prizes and sent us away, we headed over to Perkins with a bunch of her friends to get breakfast. Laura and I were going to split some French Silk Pie, but Perkins was out! We split a chocolate shake instead. Mmmmm. ^__^ I was really tired at this point, so I don't remember much else that happened there.
Laura wanted to get some flowers for her mom for Mother's Day, so we ran over to Wal-Mart and wandered around for a while.
After that, we went back to Laura's for a while to watch a movie. That didn't really happen... She put in Shrek, we sat down on the couch, and zzzzz.... we were out pretty fast. ^_^ Around 8:30, she woke me up so I could come back to Ames to move all of my stuff from Helser to Friley on time. And that's basically the whole experience.
It was a LOT of fun. Sometimes people build up so much hype for prom that they don't enjoy it as much as they thought they would. However, I enjoyed it way more than I expected. Spending so much time with Laura was absolutely wonderful.
She has pictures over on her journal. =]
Sounds like fun. My prom was a little less exciting - my school didn't have the whole planned post-prom party thing. Everyone just kinda splits up in their circles of friends and does stuff. My date and I ran off with some friends after prom ended and we went up to [HTML_REMOVED]Reunion Tower[HTML_REMOVED] and then watched a movie at one of the girls' house. I guess we had fun, but it left me feeling that Prom is just hyped too much. Oh well.
French silk pie...yummmmm.....
Just remember who helped you pick out your big pimpin' tux, homes. ^_^
How can you not dance during the more upbeat songs? That's one of the best parts of the dance. I have fond memories of blowing my friends' minds when I'd bug out to Young MC's seminal high school dance classic, "Bust A Move." Or when I bounced my brains out during House of Pain's "Jump Around" as a way to exact revenge for my friend Sarah trying to get me to do the Macarena. Rock. I mean, why would anyone choose grooving to fast songs over holding a girl close to you and swaying?
Wait...
slams head in door
Mush bettur... Aneeone know the nummer thingee to get the ambalanshe heer? thud
Thank you for helping him pick out his tux.......you did a good job Tas!!
Also...the fast music they were playing at Prom wasn't really anything you COULD dance to....or I would have had Chad out there dancing with me. We did dance to some of the faster songs.......the ones that we could dance to.
I hope you didn't hurt yourself too badly slamming your head in the door......and I hope you don't have any lasting damage.
By the way, the Papa John's extra large 1-topping for $9 doesn't expire until August. We'll have to take advantage of that this summer. :)
Yumm...Papa John's... Best pizza ever
Not true. Da Vinci's rules. However, Chad is right. It's a tad pricey. We should get Gumby's more often, though. That was damn good.
I don't think I liked Gumby's much. And Da Vinci's is too... lacking. ;)
Papa John's for me this summer. And learn to post under the right thread. ;)
Close enough, bizatch.
