Major Resume Update
After two days of off-and-on work, I have updated my online resume. Considering my resume is the 4th item to show up on google when you search for my name, I think it was about time for a content and design update. Those of you with resume experience, I'd really like some feedback... Thanks.
your first line needs rewording.... that is, of course... unless you really do mean it:
"[HTML_REMOVED]To acquire a challenging and stimulating position[HTML_REMOVED] in the area of user interface design or entertainment software."
you know what else i'm gonna say, but here is is for the newcomers.
very comprehensive, very informative.... and very boring.
obviously, you don't need a million graphics.... but it's BORING. come ON. you can do SOMETHING for visual appeal, RIGHT? people in your business still want CREATIVE people, right?
okay okay i guess not, but there's my graphic designer goddess input. :)
I meant specific changes... Resumes are supposed to be boring. ;)
I've already had to remove several things, and it still isn't even two pages. :(
riveting.
just...
riveting.
:)
I already told you what I thought of the resume...but you need to get more sleep, honey. I worry about you sometimes.
kisses Good job on the resume again!
I got plenty of (good) sleep last night, at least. :)
Dunno what exactly employeers look for in a resumé for computer programmers, but I know when looking for graphic artists (what i'm majoring in) they expect resumés to be rather boring but have some sort of artistic flair to them. Plastering images isn't usually a good thing unless it's a letterhead logo or something of the sorts. Maybe that might be a good idea for your resumé.. putting a logo for yourself at the top, making it look like a letterhead of sorts. It wouldn't hurt I've found also for lots of employeers that providing a pdf format of your resumé as well helps. That's just stuff i've ran into. Don't they teach you up there how to write a resumé for people in your particular major? If you're really serious it probably wouldn't hurt to ask a professor for help or something. They probably wouldn't mind unless they were anal you-know-whats. As I said before dunno, AK, on what a good resumé is for CS people. Good luck!
Thanks for the feedback. Several people have taught me how to write resumes... I've even taken a class where the first quarter was about writing resumes and job applications. :) I just figured the more feedback the better.
I guess I'll ask my boss too.
