My new computer arrived last week and I finally got it put together in a way that (so far) works. In fact, I'm typing on it right now, while the rest of my drive formats. So here she is:

  • Asus PC-DL Deluxe Motherboard (built-in gigabit ethernet, 6-channel audio, and it talks instead of beeping when there is an error at boot. Unfortunately, I haven't heard it say anything yet.)
  • Dual Xeon 2.8 GHz (hyperthreaded, of course)
  • 2 GB of DDR333 RAM
  • Guillemot Radeon 9800 Pro - 128 MB
  • 160 GB Maxtor Serial ATA drive
  • Pioneer 4x DVD+/-RW
  • Antec TruePower 550 Watt EPS12V power supply
  • Black Kingwin mid-size case with two USB connectors on the front

I also got a two-port KVM switch so I can still use both computers, along with an 8-port NetGear hub and other miscellaneous necessities. The total came to about $2400 (not counting the 20+ hours of research). I ordered every component from newegg.com, like how pyrallis was almost entirely purchased from TC Computers. I can't recommend newegg enough!! The prices are great, the shipping was FAST and cheap, and it was very easy to find out what components I should get. I'll be shopping there again!
