If you haven't heard yet, I have accepted a position at a startup in Palo Alto, CA. I'm taking a reduced salary for the opportunity to work with some amazing people and hopefully build a company from the ground up. So if you want to donate soup and juice and video games, feel free. >_>
Wish me luck!
Sounds like a great product. Congratulations.
There is a MS for Human Computer Interaction? :? ...I don't even want to know.
Thank you sir. :)
http://www.hci.iastate.edu/ It's the major I'll be explaining forever. >_>
Good luck with the defense on Friday!! I'll be thinking of you while I'm in class!!
And I will definitely be there for your graduation, I am so proud of you!
Love you!
~Laura
Thanks! You'd fall asleep during the defense. :)
Congratulations! I hope to finish my masters about a year from now. Good luck with the job. :)

Thanks! What's your research on again? Scary Fortran things?
I'm scheduled to work then, but I'll try to make it for that. I'm certain that I'll be bored to tears :), but it's a big thing.
Numerical analysis. Specifically numerical solutions to ordinary differential equations. Even more specifically I'm looking at arc-length based mesh selection strategies, and comparing them to defect based strategies! (I'm sure that doesn't make any sense to you.) It involves lots of math and also lots of fortran.
Cool. :) I think it'll be boring, even for people who have lots of experience in the area. >_> It's a new programming language after all... It'll only be 30 minutes long, at least.
Oh, did Tas get the message that I'm too busy right now to look at his computer?
Mm, okay. Was going to say you should show me your thesis when it's done, but I have a feeling I won't understand a thing. ^^
And maybe we could go party or something afterwards. Burnout 3 has been tempting me recently.
Good luck on the oral defense!
And I wish you much much much more luck at the startup than I've had at mine -- we're going under :-/
Is oral defense like a dental dam or what?
Just kidding, excellent work! I wish I had a degree of some kind.
Thanks, and I'm really sorry to hear that. :| Educational at least?
You could join the military and then go to school like it seems all of my friends are doing. :)
Educational in two ways:
1) I learned a lot about changing jobs and questions to ask before accepting a position
2) Learned some cool stuff about wireless networking
ummmm...no
I'm officially putting you on my list of people whose asses I will happily kiss to be someone who can say then knew them "back when they just started." You will do well. You always do.
Sorry, misresponded. >_>
Fortran: That sounds like a fort on a train...Just kidding, I know nothing...:(
But, congrats on your masters! Also, what kind of soup do you eat?
Military wouldn't take me. I'm too damned fat.
Well, don't worry about the military or school, because it won't matter, but if you're fat, you better at least be in good shape and have a healthy heart, because the Gas Apocalypse is going to strike pretty soon and zombies are going to go loose on big cities like the one in which you life. You might want to buy a few guns and camping gear, too.
Congratulations, sir! I'm sure you'll do well on your defence.
Maybe all your friends will have a place to stay for the GDC now? Just kidding : ) (because I'm sure there you'll hardly be able to afford one bedroom. JUST KIDDING. HONESTLY.)
ATK PWR UP!
haha. I like gumbo and beer cheese soup and chicken noodle and anything with vegetables and meat and... I don't like tomato soup!
Heh. Back then you mocked me. ;) I miss playing D&D with you.
I'll actually be tempted to get a hotel anyway, since it would be kind of a pain to drive & park or take the train in every day... Although I guess San Jose won't be as bad as San Francisco. There will actually be concerts out there though. :o
Congratulations! Hope your defense goes well (though I'm sure it will =) ).
You'll be moving practically next door to me. We should get together sometime when you move out here =)
Yeah, man! Good luck with your defense! I'm sure you'll make it big, really big, soon. You have da power ;)
"you've got a chance to be relevant today desperate romance is the curse of castaways what good is skill if you don't make it to the dance?"
RAWR.
Yeah definitely. I have a feeling I'll have to pull you away from work, even though I'll be the one at the startup. ;)
Yeah BR!
Yeah! Concerts. That'll be neat, I bet.
Congrats! Good luck in Palo Alto, I'm sure you'll do fine. Every dev team needs a Chad Austin so you guys can't possibly fail. Again, good luck, keep in touch, and bigupyouself!

Thanks and same to you! You know, I was thinking. It says something about our graduating group that we're all willing and able to give this startup thing a try. Hope they work out better than the average % that fails. ;)
I think the determining factor in any business' success is its ability to adapt to changing situations and pace oneself accordingly. I remember hearing Alan Greenspan talking a few years ago about how the economy overheated by producing more than consumers could buy. It seems to me that if an organization steadily paces itself to stay "just short of great", it can endure without hardship. What do you think?
Yeah, I think it's always a smart thing to pace yourself and grow slowly. If you don't have a solid plan, fizzling is much less painful than exploding. ;)
[HTML_REMOVED] well, uh, this is weird! [HTML_REMOVED] I'm like, finished with my research o_O
Five minutes later...
[HTML_REMOVED] !%@% [HTML_REMOVED] somehow I forgot to write most of chapter 5
Priceless.
Good luck defending your thesis! I'd be there if it weren't literally a thousand miles away.
Yeah, that about captures it. Somehow I'm actually on top of things, though! I'm getting things done earlier than I usually do!
Thanks. I'll put my thesis online after it's done so it can get torn apart by the Internetz.
Er, the <aegis> doesn't show up.
You should talk to this guy. He knows [HTML_REMOVED]stuff[HTML_REMOVED].
Some of it should be shockingly (blessedly?) familiar....
...?

(I guess there isn't an aegis HTML tag)
But there should be!
