If you consider counter-productive, the fact that they piss off people that would never side with them anyways, then you're probably right. I would consider productive, though, their seemingly never-ending ways to keep issues like the use of fur in the media, blogs, and discussion boards. Without those tactics, the media may cover the issue once and that's the end of it. Face it, the media makes the rules and PETA is one of the best at knowing how to play by them.
