3ds max's plug-in API is so hard to figure out. I'm about to give up... For the life of me, I can't figure out how to insert bones into the scene. If I add a "bone" object, it doesn't have any properties. If I add a "boneobj" object (which is completely undocumented: it's not even in the SDK header files...) the bone appears in the scene and has editable properties, but it shows up in renderings and you can't link multiple bones together. Maybe I need to use an IK solver controller, but I dunno... I SUSPECT I have to do something like: create two bone geometry objects, create actual bone helper object, create IK solver, and link them all together somehow. I wish I had an idea where to start. ;_; Today I ran into an old friend at Beyer and played a few games of racquetball with him. He was very, very good. Gave me a heck of a workout. I had to stop after the third game because I couldn't breathe anymore.
